Who's the sponsor of the Agile practice in your organization?

In listening to Agile consultants and trainers I'm picking up that the sponsor(s) of an Agile initiative / practice in an organization is more likely to be a technology person than an upper management or C level person. Is this correct? Saving Changes...

So let me take this a little further. Agile comes in through technology for all the stated reasons. At the same time because there isn't an upfront cost or schedule to a particular project or projects I would believe the CFO would need sign off, at least initially, on the cost to be implemented and getting it up and running and or until it becomes successful. At the same time the CIO would need sign off, again initially, because delivery schedules are in the hands of the team. HR would need to sign off on the new job descriptions. Other departments would need sign off given they are going to be product owners and their time and expertise is required. As you've all said Agile affects the whole organization and as such needs to be presented holistically and not just technically to have a chance at success. Saving Changes...
