Should always a project manager be a risk taker?

Any risks undertaken must be "calculated."

At the start of a project, we cannot say whether a project will meet all its objectives with 100% confidence. All projects have some degree of uncertainty.
The PM is appointed to deliver project objectives by managing the risks which are already associated with the project.

Should a project manager be a risk taker? I think, project manager should be a risk manager!

I agree with Visswanathan,

The PM should be a risk manager. What is the Stakeholder's or Sponsor's tolerance for risk? As a PM you are the representative and as such need to make calculated justifications for why you are going to take a risk or opportunity.
