Workplace politics at times may be more confusing and confrontational than nationwide politics. Sure, there may not be as much at stake, but a terrible relationship between two employees can hurt the productivity and morale of an entire company.
How do you make sure that you’re not in the midst of one of these feuds and what can you do to ensure that your coworkers aren’t tied up in any negative relationships? Saving Changes...

Negative relationships are inevitable sometimes, as this is the nature of the human beings. I don't think you can eliminate them but you can work towards minimizing them and their effects but regular team building sessions.

Don't try to avoid confrontations at the workplace. Manage them. Help the team improve their communication skills so that, when confrontations are needed or cannot be avoided, they are handled professionally. Keep the focus on problem solving, not finger pointing. You still have to hold people accountable, but placing the emphasis on what, instead of who, will help to minimize feuds.

Appreciate your valuable feedback and suggestions Aaron. Workplace confrontations are a fact of life. Wise politicking will help us get what we want in the world of work without compromising others in the process. As you have highlighted, we must learn to use its power positively and handle them professionally while diffusing the efforts of those who abuse it. :-)
Sharing an office daily for more than eight hours with other people who may not be entirely related, it generates conflicts in a natural way. That is not weird or something to avoid.
In fact, conflicts can be opportunities for knowledge and integration of work teams, the establishment and clarification of personal boundaries and, above all, to improve communication, foster dialogue, and respect among colleagues.

Thank you for taking out the time to respond Mayte.
As you mentioned, negative conflict has a tendency to emerge in varying degrees due to the mere dynamics of having diverse individuals with differing backgrounds, ideas, and potential agendas coming together and must be swiftly addressed when it presents itself.

Agree you on the emotional intelligence point Deepesh. People with a high emotional intelligence are empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of other and emotions play a very important role in the search for confrontation resolutions.
Dealing with co-workers as human beings with real lives is often ignored in the busy workplace. However, people who can do this while maintaining appropriate boundaries, have developed skills to effectively combine professionalism with genuine emotions like sensitivity and empathy as they strive for more effective conflict resolution and useful outcomes.
