Hi Guys, I recently passed PMP exam and have been working on a project management field here in Abu Dhabi, UAE for almost 12 years. I am moving to Canada end of this year or early next year hoping for a better future for family.

Is there any suggestion you may have to take while I am still here so I can have an entry on the Project Management field, say a Junior Project Coordinator since I still lack Canadian experience?

You have your PMP, so I don't believe you'll need anything more to get a Project Manager job in Canada, despite not having experience working in the Canadian market. The Canadian members of this site might have more to say about it, but I think you're fine from a credential standpoint.
Actually, you can take advantage of this time to start learning French. That'll certainly make you more marketable in Canada.

Hi Eric. Thank you so much for your input. I am really hoping for the best and I will initiate that French classes as advised.

I recently joined local PMI chapter on West Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Toronto to start increasing my network. Hopefully, even on entry level, in God's Grace I will make it. Thanks again buddy.

Hi Alain,

Having your PMP will serve you well in Canada. As others have said learning French will be an asset if you intend to live east of Toronto. If you intend to live out west having French wont be in as much demand.

There are number of large organizations, such as, WSP, SNC Lavalin, Acciona, PCL, to name but a few, that are always advertising for PM's with infrastructure experience.

Hi Alain,
Where are you moving in Canada?
PMP is recognized in Canada, MPM is not that known. In Montréal we have one of the first university to provide MPM (here call MGP, in french).
You background is in transportation? Engineering?

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for taking time to reply. I am actually exploring opportunities now and given that chance, I can move in a month or so. If I didn't get any opportunity while here, I will move January next year and search there in Canada completely. That is why I am exploring other way to help me land even an entry position on project management field to support my PMP credential.

My degree is Electrical Engineering but I have worked mainly in transportation, planning and project management for over 12 years.

I know Canada is a big place, I've been to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver and Alberta. I do not fully know where to settle for now; hence, I look forward to be moving in BC if given the chance and opportunity.
