Are you a Senior Project Manager? What's next?

PM's should not fall into the "Conformism" trap,
What advices to you give to those PM's that need a boost to engage new areas, attack those common experienced PM's mistakes.

You know what I'm talking about? Those Senior PMs that says, I don't need that, I can control it this or that way?

Increasing your self-awareness is a great way to keep the career fresh. Look for ways that you can improve the service that you provide. Ask for feedback, face your weaknesses, and find a mentor who can help you grow; even senior PMs can benefit from a mentor, unless your plan is to just plug along where you're at until you retire. If that's all you're doing, don't be surprised if you it doesn't work out that way.

Look for opportunities to coach others; teaching/coaching is a great way to reinforce concepts for yourself, not just others. What is it about project management that you are passionate about? How can you share that with others?

Where do you want to be in five years? Ten? Think past the next 60 PDUs. How are you going to turn your experience into opportunity? What relationships do you need to develop to get there?

Think beyond the current projects you are working on. How do they fit into the company's portfolio of projects? Do they fit? What else is on the horizon that you should be aware of? How will it impact the decisions you make today?

I'll stop rambling, now.

Wow! One question gave birth to multiple other questions! Well, not only Project Management but also other approaches... like Business Analysis, Coaching, etc.

A senior project manager does need to be more than just a project manager. I'm not saying the senior PM needs to do BA work, but you do need to understand strategy and the company's strategic direction, among other things. You're beyond just focusing on the hard and soft skills that are prerequisite to doing your job.
