I'm looking for some new books to read on Project Leadership. Either memoirs or
guidebooks on project leadership techniques.
Have you read anything lately that you felt enhanced your leadership skills?

Jennifer, I know you're question's a year old and perhaps you've moved far beyond it, but one I enjoyed was What You Need to Know about Project Management by Fergus O'Connell. It will never replace the PMBOK, but it was very readable and practical. When I was part of a PMO, I bought copies for the other members to give us some common footing.

I have a couple of suggestions if you want to get an out-of-the-box perspective. Ambiguity Advantage: What Great Leaders are Great At, by David J. Wilkinson; The Heretics Guide to Management: The Art of Harnessing Ambiguity, by Paul Cumsee and Kailash Awati.

You'll note that both books address the topic of ambiguity. It is my belief that ambiguity is a vitally important topic, and an essential barrier to leadership. Ambiguity is particularly important for leaders of strategic projects

The mainstream of leadership thinking seldom addresses ambiguity as a leadership topic. My evidence for this claim includes a sampling of leadership books on my personal bookshelf (I did not find a single index entry on the subject of ambiguity), a search of several of the top-ranked leadership books on Amazon (only the occasional citation), and some conversations with colleagues who teach leadership seminars (not a firm grasp of about what a leader should do about ambiguity).

Hello Jennifer,

I've recently come across The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management (the latest edition (5th) was published in November 2015). The review of it may be found here at https://project-management.com/the-fast-fo...-a-book-review/ and perhaps you will find this one quite interesting too - A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - 6th Edition at https://store.rmcproject.com/pmbok-guide-6th-edition

Good luck with exploring new horizons!

Another one worth taking a look at: Building Leadership in Project and Network Management (Franz, Hans-Werner.; Sarcina, Ruggiera)
https://www.amazon.com/Building-Leadership.../dp/3540939555/
(there is an updated one available, but that's the version I'm familiar with)

A little late to the game on this one, but "Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups" by Daniel Coyle was a great read about how management attitudes and addressing negative 'players' can have a huge impact on the team.
