Diogo, any specific industry? Or did you mean in an industrial organization?
Challenges can be different.

Hi Vicent,
When I wrote the question I was more or less thinking Industry as manufacturing in oposition to IT.
I idea of the questions was to see it what people think to be the main challenges in general in (manufactoring) Industry.
After re-reading the quaestion I agree that it is not very clear.

Agree wit Vicent. As everyone in the game knows, the issues one faces day-to- day are many and varied. No one can address them all because we don’t have any idea what they all are. Most of the problems we face are unanticipated and only reveal themselves as the project progresses. That said, there are core challenges inherent in the life-cycle of every project, such as:
- Managing expectations
- Maintaining focus
- Overcoming team biases
If you would have given one more option, I would say 'Closing the vision gap with executive management'.

Project management is a matter of organizational strategy. For each business (as people about pointed out) an strategy is created and project management will be impacted for it. The business has no changes. What changed from 1990 up to date is the way to do business. So, what are the chanllenges related to project management? The same than from years ago: to support the strategy because project management is intended to all related to projects and projects are the way to put strategy into action. Take a look to historical information about project management into different industries from 1986 up to date and you will surprise.

Giving my personal opinion I think 3 key challenges are:
- support the organization strategy- Now a days companies in (manufactoring) industry tend to change strategy in order keep running for the market that is always changing
- Perform integrated change Management and be ready to see change as normal situation - Everything is very fast so the initial plan and ideas easily become out-dated along the project due to new technology, new perspectives,...
- Adopt new project management techniques - In the "industry" I still see waterfall everywhere. Although Agile is not possible/feasible in many cases for sure there is a world of new Project Management approaches waiting to be discovered Saving Changes...
