My new manager has asked me to draft a performance plan and professional development plan for his review. How do I go about doing this?

Dear Anonymous, it is a great idea to have an annual performance plan and development plan. For your performance plan you can summarize your key duties and areas of responsibility as well as performance criteria; far exceeds, exceeds at times, meets, does not meet, etc. For your development plan, you can outline your assigned tasks and goals and the development needs you require to meet your goals. Your HR dept or manager probably has forms that you can use for your performance plan and development plan. The format isn't as important as the joint development and review of your plans with your manager. Hope this helps. -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International
