When I mitigate a risk, I understand that I decrease its probability of occurring , but also decreasing the impact is the tricky part, can someone elaborate on an example of decreasing impact either in scope, schedule, cost, quality ?

Dear Seif Eldin Soliman,

Example to mitigate Injuries & accidents costs

if a worker can be educated HSE to reduce probability accidents during the work and providing safety equipment that will reduce the impact .

I'll take the new project introduction as the example . We could identify some of the project risks prior to the implementaton . use the 5M1E fishbone graph to categorize the risks . Then we could accordingly plan the personal training, prodedure modification , the machine TPM ,,,,all of these could relief the risk impacts to the project success.

Hi Seif
Having spare parts on site, doesn't diminish probabilities of occurrences , but would reduce the impact, shorter down time. The cost to reduce the risk was the spare parts on site, what you save is cost to get spare parts urgently on site and the reduce down time.
