Diversity is about bringing different views (diversified thoughts) to one table. Maintaining targets for gender diversity, geographic diversity, or cultural diversity could be a path to establish the same.

Diversity is the one of the factor for creative thinking. So the more diverse the team is the probability of getting different ideas is more, so that the innovations. As Krishna said it's of any diversity gender, colour, culture, background etc...so that the thinking of the people is different but as a team the group will discuss pros and cons of possible output and can get the best results.

Leaders should have diversity in their team and promote it. Diversity is key for increase the creativity, the knowledge and success in a project.

In everything listed so far, I like "different kind of project" the most.

We're supposed to be the experts in our field, so a truly diverse project manager should get some experience in different types of projects, tools, and methods.
