Validate Scope is the final checks and balances before the project starts. Does the work further the company objectives and business strategy? Does the WBS sufficiently define all the work needed to be completed? Is the SOW clear and concise? Doing that final checklist saves a lot of financial and work issues further down the line.

The PMBOK 6 says "Validate Scope" is a Monitoring and Controlling process for the purpose of formalizing acceptance of deliverables. (Did we do what was promised in the scope statement?) The benefit is that it is objective, not subjective - a sort of checklist, and it increases the chances of final acceptance, especially if we gain acceptance of each deliverable as it is completed.
Hope this helps.

Why a project is started? To create a solution in the way it is defined. How you will be sure you get the objective? Validating scope.
