Hi All,

In PM Challenge, i have come across following question

How should project cost be measured?

* Different stakeholders will measure it different ways at different times.
* All stakeholders can measure in their own way, but they should all do it at the same time
* All stakeholders must maintain a consistent method of measuring and do so at the exact same time for the results to be valid
* None of the above

For above question, i had replied "Different stakeholders will measure it different ways at different times." But PM challenge says it as wrong answer and at the same time, in another option of same page, correct answer is mentioned as "Different stakeholders will measure it different ways at different times."

Similar issue i have observed yesterday as well. Even though i answered correctly, PM Challenge says it as wrong but correct answer is same as what i had given.

Tried to add screenshot, but i am unable to add screenshot.

Who will be taking care of PM challenge questions here?

Senthil,

Yes! Please send a screen shot, and a description of the problem to "contact us." They get it to me within just a few minutes and 1) they don't forget like I'm prone to do and 2) they assign a tracking number to your message.

Thank you for your interest!

Hi Dave,

I had sent one more query to them (This item i was bit confused). Question read as follows :

Which of the following are not activity attributes?

Logical relationships
Leads and Lags
Neither of these
Both of these

For above correct answer as per PM challenge is Neither of these (These are both activity attributes). If both of them are activity attributes, in Question "Not" should not come right?

Correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Senthil,

I think I fixed that question, but I'll double-check. You're correct -- the question has problems. the answer should either be "none of the above" or the question should say "not"

Your understanding is perfect.

I haven't seen a resource yet (including Rita's book) that is 100% error free when it comes to questions.

I need to remember to post my findings in this section as well. I've found a question or 2 that I believed to be incorrect but didn't know where to address the issue on the site and then forgot before I got a chance to email pm.com

Hello everyone!

Any time you find a question you think may have errors please send us an email to let us know: [email protected]

While this is a lively discussion, and we love lively discussions, the email path will make sure someone on the team sees the message and can act on it.

Thank you!

This discussion thread has me wondering how common is this occurrence - Examinee'a answers marked incorrect with the wrong answer displayed by PM Challenge?

And also, how many questions are used which are not based on PMBOK, but pulled from other areas of expertise, to make the questions "super difficult"?
Because, for instance, if you ask a lawyer a question about Astro Physics, your more than likely to get the wrong answer, even in a multiple choice format.
What good does questions like that do for the purpose of the PM Challenge, which is to test knowledge the specific area (PM) of expertise of the examinee?

Hello James,

I'm pleased you're engaged with The PMChallenge questions! Certainly a Project manager uses more knowledge than is represented in the PMBOK guide - and on a daily basis. Also, I'm fairly certain that the PMP exam is based upon more than is found in the PMBOK guide. However, I'm not certain of the genealogy of the PMChallenge questions but I do know many dated back to version 3 of the guide. I volunteered to clean them up and PMI accepted my offer.

To do this I wrote software that scanned for non version 5 terms and flag them. Where needed, I rewrote those questions to be in conformance with V5. NOTE: if there were logic problems that I spotted I fixed those, but if a question was not flagged and I didn't check the logic of those.

What remains are over 2,000 questions that have been checked for V5 compliance, and many checked for logic errors, But not all.

I assure you there no astrophysics questions in the set. They are, in the great majority correct and very useful. Are there still incorrect ones? Sure! Whenever you create 2,000 or so items and carry them through 3 revisions - mistakes will remain.

Oh, and PMBOK V6 is coming soon!
