First timer, best way to meaningfully participate in PMI Global Conference

I am interested in attending the PMI Global Conference (late October in Chicago). The track options for this event are intriguing.

But my question: Do experienced conference attendees have any advice for first timers attending this conference? I'm not scheduled to present a session, but I want to get as much out of the conference as is possible, including by performing work in advance of the meeting.

Great to see you are interested in the Conference.
For first timers, my suggestions are:
- once you get to the venue and register, you will be pointed to select from a set of ribbons that indicate your industry, your credential(s) and others ... adding the "first timer" ribbon to your name tag would be good conversation starter.
- I think PMI has a session for first-timers to provide answers to your questions and ensure that first-timers will get the best out of the Conference.
- it's a good practice to plan your sessions and register for each ahead of the conference.
- browse through the available attendees list, you might see some familiar names / industries you are interested in that you'd like to connect with where you could meet face to face during the conference.
- there's always additional information and connections to be made via paying the kiosks a visit.
- plenty of networking opportunities via attending the receptions/evening functions.
- having sufficient business cards to exchange would be good.
- and finally, I'd like to invite you to attend "Respect Culture or Face Failure: Leadership Lessons from Four Continents", where Karthik Ramamurthy and myself will be presenting on behalf on our PMI Ethics Member Advisory Group.
