Hello Mahalmadane: You were brave enough to share a fear that many other people also share. The fear of public speaking can make it so hard as a project manager, when often we are asked to facilitate meetings, give presentations and quickly step into executive discussions. I don't have the same fear, in fact, I really enjoy public speaking, but in the past few years it has become harder and harder for me to sing in public. I used to sing up front in a church group and often they asked me to do solos, it got to be so painfully uncomfortable for me, I would sweat and feel sick and constantly try to get out of singing. So, in this small way, I can relate to the things you have shared. I searched and found some links for you - maybe these will be helpful? https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-b...peaking-fear-2/ https://www.briantracy.com/blog/public-spe...ublic-speaking/ There are many other articles on this subject out there - these were just two that seemed really practical. My best advice is to be confident in your knowledge, your experience and your gift of a beautiful and strong voice. I wish you well, Mahalmadane. Saving Changes...
Do you have any local organizations where you can be given the opportunity to practice and possibly be coached? For example, if there is a Toastmasters chapter nearby, Toastmasters provides excellent opportunities for practicing public speaking and receiving feedback in a comfortable environment. Believe me, I understand you very well. First of all, after more than 30 years doing this type of things including talking along the world inside PMI and IIBA and other conferences I will say this: you can not avoid to feel fear and nervous. Forget about it. It is a human being condition that it is impossible to avoid but it is possible to manage. Returning to the point, take some acting classes can help you a lot. In my case, I have performed tennis at professional level (besides I play futbol a lot, but in four categories) and that helped me a lot too. Saving Changes...
