Most of the people think PMP is enough for a project manager. But getting the certification is not enough, applying that knowledge to reach the business objective is required. Please let me know what are the knowledge a PM must have during the Project Management process and when he will reach the end point.

Also what is the next step if he reaches the end point?

Enthusiasm, Initiative and Loyalty are three fundamental pillars required for a project manager to reach the business objective among many other important
criteria. I doubt that there is any end point to reach for that, you can reach an optimum level of satisfaction according to requirements gathered in any given project but perfection is not from this world. There is always something we could do better
Thank you so much Christina for this very pertinent question..

Christina,

Please understand that there is no end point in project management. Things continue to evolve in project mgmt like in other areas. Your career in project management is a journey that you undertake the moment you choose it. Some people decide to stop somewhere and make that place their destination, other continue to explore new areas

For PM knowledge, you can refer to PMBOK or other PM frameworks. Getting PMP certified is not a sufficient condition, but it has become a necessary condition for many employers who are searching for a project manager. The reason is that, by getting PMP certified, you have exhibited a variety of skills, experience, expertise, knowledge and practical experience and rigor for project execution. Whether PMP certification will make you a successful PM is a different matter altogether, but you have at least exhibited the knowledge in the PM processes before an international body
I hope I have been able to answer some of your questions

Hi Christina,
What do you mean by end point of project management?
I feel that there is no end point for any subject.

There is no end point to signify that you know everything as knowledge acquisition is a continuous process. you need to continuously update your knowledge base based on ever changing industry requirement

I would sum that in few words: The right Experience ! Experience is what counts more than certifications - Education of course helps but without experience it doesn't do much.
