Hi Rami,
Subsidiary question then...
If I renew my certification now (supposed to expire in 2019), it will become valid until 2022. Fine.
Then if I renew it again once I have all the PDUs... will it become valid until 2025?
Forecasting a bit, it would mean you could be in good standing until far in the future, not having to declare PDUs anymore than for the 1st 2-3 years? That would be a bit contradictory with the whole PMP certification, don't you think?

Juan, my path was the same as Rami. Although, keep in mind that PDU's will not count toward the next cycle until 2018. PDU's are only valid for 12 months for carryover.
Only PDUs earned in the final year (12 months) of your certification cycle can be applied to a future cycle

Gents,
Here is how it goes: (Let's assume you got your certification in January 2016):
1- The certificate will be valid till January 2019 - During those 3 years, you can renew your cycle anytime even after couple of months as long as you accumulate 60 PDU's. As long as it's for thr next cycle, all your PDU's wil be counted so lets assume you managed to accumulate 60 PDU's in April 2016 and applied for renewal. When approved, they will send you a new certificate via mail with the new expiry day which will be January 2022.
2- From April 2016 until January 2018, any PDU's you accumulate after renewing your cycle will be shown in your CCRS but won't count towards anything because you already renewed your certificate.
3- During the last year of your first cycle (As of Jan 2018) you can start accumulating PDU's for the cycle following the 2022 cycle up to a maximum of 20 PDU's (Those are the maximum carry over PDU's allowed).
4- As of Jan 2019, you can accumulate the rest of the PDU's required to renew the certificate from 2022 to 2025.
Hope this helps.
