I would like to ask the following questions regarding process improvement.
1) If within a certain process a proposal for example was sent to a customer. The next activity on this process would happen when the customer signs the proposal and send it back. Would this activity and the following ones separated in a separate process or the process will remain active till the customer send the signed proposal?
2) How does the parallel activities represented in process maps?
3) What is the suitable book I can read to understand exactly how to develop and improve the processes in a software house?

Michael, thank you once again for the slides.
Yesterday I presented a Process improvement proposal to our MD and it was well received. The proposal is to introduce an Enterprise IM system in our organisation. I gave a quick presentation on the benefits of using an EIM, how it can change the way we work given that we have a globally distributed workforce and a list of possible solutions. I have now been asked to prepare a detailed business case and present it to the management for final approval.
Can somebody please provide some guidance/tips on how to go ahead? I found a good sample Business case under templates. Any kind of inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks
Roshan

Roshan, begin your business case with quantifiable data about how an EIM links to the needs of stakeholders, the strategic direction of the company and its core business objectives.

The goal of the Business Case is to present a compelling argument for moving ahead with the initiative.

Check out the JPACE business case information on gantthead.

Also there are some helpful links in the attached doc.

If you like I would be happy to review what you develop.

Hi Michael

I've downloaded your slides and am very impressed. I have ordered your 2 books and am waiting impatiently for them to wing their way to Perth Australia. In the mean time I am pitching my services to conduct an internal process improvement project and I am planning to use your methodology for it.

I am trying to get an understanding of how much time it will take me. I have only one VADS but it is a big one with around 10 internal sections involved. A review of this process has been carried out some time ago and came up with 60 recommendations. I am required to cover off these recommendations in my project and my thoughts are to incorporate these recommendations into the change analysis (after confirming with the focus group that they agree). So instead of having 8-12 change analysis statements I could have over 60. Is this feasible? How would you handle it? How many workshops would you think are needed?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Michael,

Like a few others that have posted here I'm new to this site - just started a rather big project that's going to involve quite a bit of work, and would greatly appreciate a copy of your slides and book. You can email me at home on [email protected] or send it to me via Limousine Bull, Unit 3c, Deemouth Business Centre, Aberdeen, Scotland, AB11 9PB

Many thanks
