Slack is a great communication tool. But, so is Skype for business. So is MS Project. So is Wrike, Trello, and G-Suite. I think the important question might be; "How do we want to communicate effectively across the team?" Pick something that works for achieving the approach you want to take and stick to it. Good Luck!
