SDLC used for network project...?

What I want to know is what to do about being told to use SDLC for my network project.

Ask the person if they understand the differences between software development and network engineering? Basically the SDLC is similar in nature, Analyze, Design, Construct, Test and Implementation - the difference being that the phases are smaller and more focused on known entities.
