Why PMI not allowing openbook exams system?

The open book exam format wouldn't work on PMI tests due to the nature of the answers, which could be easily looked up. This would render the exam useless as a measure of project management knowledge.

Agree with Eric.

In the same way that in MS Project Certification Test 74-343 one is not allowed to use the software during the test. An advanced user must be able to answer the questions without having to check them on the tool.

The test wants to know how well you can apply the material that you have studied and not just look up the answer. You have the ability to do a brain dump on the paper you are given which allows you to write out the process chart and equations. If you have those already then technical questions are answered. I would think the book would slow you down in a test with 200 questions and 4 hours I can't imagine having to flip through that book to find the information in context to the question.
