Hi! I am looking for an exchange concerning the best way to make a complex content concerning a software application available to a large geographically dispersed user group (100.000+). For our purpose, it must be easy to maintain, accessible, and provided in a manner that it works for different situation,so e.g. a total Rookie trying to understand the entire flow, as well as the near expert who is looking for details and tricks in one very specific area.
All this in a way that is easily maintainable and without creating duplicates of lots of documents targeted to different user group. Anyone has a experiences to share?

Hi Kathrin, I used for Learning Content in my projects (SAP Implementations) the Assima Training Suite (http://www.assima.net).

Hi Kathrin, have you ever heard someone talking about Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step.Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step is a comprehensive customer engagement methodology for Microsoft Dynamics solutions, which provides a standard approach and collection of tools, templates, and best practices to use for successful customer implementation.

Kathrin - You can make use of Oracle Webcenter Content to store the training materials and Oracle Webcenter Portal to build a portal for users to access the content. You might need There are opensource tools available, but they wouldnt suffice the complex requirement of 10K users, where you might need different permissions for different users and user groups.
It is better to build a custom solution using Oracle Webcenter Technology which would be robust and scalable. But this would be little costly in terms of the license and the implementation cost

The only way you will achieve your objectives is by creating a knowledge management environment. Knowledge management demands the creation of a project and an specific architecture. So, take a look to http://www.kminstitute.org for example. I mean, lot of people talks about knowledge management but most of them do not know what knowledge management really is. Make your job to search for seminal work on the field.

Hello again, and thanks for your advice! Meanwhile things have taken a slightly different turn, so my focus is moving away from a fully-blown CMS (as that is on the radar but won't be around for another 2-3 years at least), but an interim solution for basically a complex user handbook, allowing for different levels of competence and scenarios. Lateron, this one would need to be able to be integrated into any coming CSM solution, so e.g. future compatibility will be a requirement. Does anyone have experience with such a situation, and what to consider here?
