What does the president not like about the term "PMO"?
Saving Changes...
You may also try PBO - Project Back Office. But yet, nothing wrong with PMO
Saving Changes...
One must keep department name which justifies its functions and controls.
Like some PMOs act as a facilitator, some play consulting role, some may have close watch on project's important constraints like cost, schedule, quality & alike.
Accordingly, PMO may be renamed as , Program Support office, Project Control office, Program Central Office & alike.

To stay in sync with the universe I would still use PMO. Changing the name will cause confusion.
If you have have Project Managers and they report to a Director or Manager then it make sense to call it a PMO.

What would be the key role of the "PMO", Control, coach, teach, supervise support....?
That could help in finding a name
