What are your recollections of PMP exams?
What was there that you did not expect?
What was there as expected?
Any shock and awes?
Lessons learnt?
Do's and Dont's?

It was difficult, not just the questions (we all know content wise), but also the time constraint and the stress of 'staying the course' and not being left with 50 questions left and 3:30 have passed. If you need to leave for a nature break, be aware of what it takes to leave and come back in, and if others are there, you have to wait your turn - all while your clock continues without you.

Time is so very precious - remain cognizant of that. It can slip away right from under your nose.

I took the exam in 2003 so it has changed quite a lot since then. (For one thing, I was given a score!)

The big problem with answering your request is that a lot has to do with the lot of exam questions you get. You may get a totally different set of questions than the person sitting next to you taking the same exam.

With that disclaimer, I was surprised that, though allowed a calculator, I did not need to use it once. In fact, I only had few questions on EVM and they did not involve much calculation, if any.

I also was surprised how the questions were formatted differently than the ones in the mock exam. There were a few trick questions, where you have to carefully read them so you won't be led astray.

Finally, I did not mark any question for review. I picked an answer for each question then spent the last 30 minutes reviewing them all.

I look forward to hear what you found surprising in your PMP exam.

Dear Mr Stephane
Thanks a lot for your detailed response.
In fact many other wonderful PMI members have given their experiences. So by connecting these I may get a fair picture of what to expect in the exam.
I would definitely share my experiences and I hope that I am not surprised by the exam questions
Regards

Hello Waseem: Good luck to you as you take your exam! I agree with everything written above by my colleagues, and would add to (1) Know where your testing center is in advance - I had to drive to a city 2 hours away, so googled the location and called the testing center in advance to find out their "rules" and to ensure I had the correct location (2) Take a deep breath when you arrive, remain calm throughout the exam, ask for ear plugs if your testing center allows - that helped me focus. The test is difficult, but you've got this if you study hard and follow the advice on this discussion board!
