PRINCE2 the easy way

PRINCE2, PRINCE2, PRINCE2 -aaaaaaargh! Most project professionals who are not PRINCE2 practitioners often react with scepticism or outright aversion when Europe's favourite project methodology -PRINCE2- is mentioned.

How can we implement it? Doesn't PRINCE2 just add yet another layer of complexity to an already difficult project challenge? What we need is more practicality and pragmatism, not formal processes.

But PRINCE2 can deliver stability, predictability and measureability to all projects, and straight away too. These are all good management buzzwords and desirable goals -so why aren't more managers using the method?

One issue is expensive and drawn-out training. People are busy; budgets are drained and the project has to be delivered -the typical project manager has no time to send any of her team away from the coalface, period.

There is a neat solution, though, and one that can be deployed immediately. Think of it as PRINCE2 in a box: BugBox. The tool is cheap, very easy to deploy (have a look at some customers compliments on Amazon) and cannot be underflown as a very basic piece of technology. Add to that it's being a near-relative to the PM's favourite bit of kit (the spreadsheet) and you have a winning proposition. Get PRINCE2 working across your team today, even without their knowing it, and start to reap the benefits of a structured method straight away...
