Although I've been managing various different projects for years now, and recently acquired my PMP, I feel as if I don't have enough PMI project management experience. I've never used Microsoft Project, I've not been taught nor managed by other PMPs, and the lack of professional experience makes me yearn for more.
Is there a way to continue my current day/full time job while getting a part time job on the side to not only produce value for that company, but to also gain new knowledge and skill sets within the PM field? What jobs would you veteran PMs recommend and what's the best way of going about getting that education if not real life experience with other advanced PMs? Saving Changes...
I think your own job, in combination with this website, further reading and courses is enough to get the experience you refer to. Looking at your profile, you seem to be doing that already, and ahead of many seasoned PM's in terms of self learning. No need to add a part time job to learn more PM. Saving Changes...
how about checking out your local PMI chapter and joining them. Usually they do lectures, casual get together events and such. You could connect to others and definitely learn something.
It is also possible to volunteer for activities with PMI using the Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS). Just register the things you are interested in and they will send you a mail if something comes up.
Plenty possibilities I would say. All on top of what Sante mentioned already. Saving Changes...
