I am researching information on the above tools. Has anyone heard of PWW as a project management software? Epic? What does Method 1 refer to? Saving Changes...

I'm pretty sure Method 1 refers to Method123, which you can google online. It is a project management methodology. I'm not familiar with the other two. Saving Changes...

Hi Richard, Method/1 is the SDLC methodology developed sometime back by Authur Anderson to work with their Foundation CASE tools. It can also be used independent of any case tools. EPIC, developed by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI), stands for Evolutionary Process for Integrating COTS-based systems (EPIC) and it seeks to address the unique needs of COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) software implementation. EPIC is a negotiation-driven process where the features provided by COTS influence the requirements and expectations of system stakeholders. I have come across PWW in the context of Personalized Worldwide Web contextual design and webpage rendering, but not as a project management software solution. Just out of curiousity, what kind of research are you doing? Hope this helps. -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International Saving Changes...

Richard, hi again! Regarding your research on PWW, Epic, and Method/1, there is a software company called Epicor that provides a IT Service Management solution called ITSM. Epicor is covered in the Gartner Group PPM Magic Quadrant report though it is more of an enterprise IT service management solution rather than a PPM offering. Hope this helps. -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International Saving Changes...
Thank you for you research and advice. To answer your question, I have a potential client for which I would have to manage a project. They told me these were the applications and systems they were using to manage their projects. I have been in this business for 25 years; and they were unknown to me. I thought I would ask and share with the group. Saving Changes...

There was project software called WorkBench from ABT with pww as extension to the filename. ABT became part of Niku and was absorbed into their project management suite. Saving Changes...

PWW stands for Project Workbench. This software enables you to set up projects and assign resources to bill hours towards activities in the SDLC (Solution Delivery Life Cycle) of project development. It goes hand in hand with Team Workbench, where the workers would enter their hours booked against assigned tasks under individual projects.
EPIC is what drives the financials behind all of this. The person who handles all of the funding for all of the projects would do so in EPIC. EPIC interfaces with Project Workbench.
Workers enter their project work hours in Team Workbench, then Project Workbench manages all of the entered time for all of the entered projects, then EPIC acts as the accounting end keeping billing/monetary records, and also project status at the project, team, or enterprise level.
As Mark mentioned in his post, Method/1 is the SDLC methodology developed sometime back by Authur Anderson. It includes templates and documents prescribed by the methodology to complete the lifecycle of a technology project.
All three are quite old and a little out-dated compared to newer products on the market for companies to use. I have used all three of these products for years, and they can be a pain sometimes. Saving Changes...
