Scheduling the PMP exam between Jan and Mar-2018 based on PMBOK 5th edition

Is it right to schedule the exam for Jan or Feb 2018 based on my current preparation for PMP based on PMBOK 5th edition. I am worried if this is a risk in continuing my preparation based on 5th edition as website says Q1 2018 but the exam outline change date is not known yet

Vijay -

I'd responded to this in a different thread but here's a duplicate of my response.

I'd recommend trying to write the exam before the end of this year based on PMBOK v5 content. While PMI hasn't announced a specific date in Q1 when the new exam will be effective it could be as early as January.

Historically, whenever there are major changes to either the underlying content or the content outline for one of PMI's exams, it takes a few months for them to get the pass rate and exam item pool "right" as they need actual statistical data from the first thousand or so candidates writing it.

As such, I'd recommend either go with tried and true and do it before year end, or wait till late Q2 if you wish to write it based on v6 content.

I agree with Kiron. Try to write the exam before end of 2017.

You have more than three months to prepare before the end of 2017. That's ample time to study and be ready for the exam.

The exam will change in Q1 of 2018. The exact date has not been announced yet, but it is better to write the exam by early December 2017.
