I am about to start my degree in Project Management. What would be good books (preferably FREE pdf downloads) to read to give me a head start?

Andrew -

These aren't free but should be available from your local library. I'd suggest:

- The Mythical Man-Month by Fred Brooks
- Servant-Leadership by Robert K. Greenleaf
- No-nonsense Advice For Successful Projects by Neal Whitten

If you are member of PMI, you have PMBOK free in pdf format!

As Vincent said, if you are a PMI Member (Paid Member) then there are lots of resources under Practice Guides of which one of them is the new PMBOK. Good Luck !

Also, there are many PM blogs that you can read. Gather PM knowledge by reading the posts.

I also highly recommend the Standards of Practice, along with Vincent's first and last book recommendations. I would also add Goldratt's Critical Chain.
