Hi Uma,
You have just found a solution to your own problem. The problem is Tracking and visibility of tasks.
Two easy things you can do straight off the bat :-
1) Get an area or a War-room where you can frequently/daily meet to discuss the project
2) Start with Daily stand-ups as per Stepane's Suggestion
3) Use Post-its and a wall or a board as the KanBan Board; this way everyone knows what is happening on the project.
4) Nominate/Empower someone as a Scrum Master and bring the Product Owner upto speed with advantages of using SCRUM.

Next, get a small number of people in project team who are enthusiastic about new software tools upto speed on JIRA
5) Get them to Feed the information from the Kanban boards into JIRA once a week , so there is an electronic trace of what is happening on the project.
6) Leverage the reporting features of JIRA to tell Management what is happening on the project.

You need to take baby steps. Let people who are concerned about profits make their money. You are concerned about Delivery and keeping track of deliverable and progress, so get the people who are details orientated on your side for the Agile Journey

Uma -

This is not an issue of retail IT not adopting agile, but rather the legacy mindset of a traditional organization which is prevalent in many industries.

Successful agile transformation is usually accomplished through top-down and bottom-up support. You can start to create some momentum via a grass-roots adoption from teams which want to do things differently, but to really get the benefit you'll need senior management commitment.
