Scrum Alliance calls it Certified Scrum Master (CSM) while ScrumStudy calls it Scrum Master Certified (SMC) and another Professional Scrum Master (PSM). Do they carry the same weight in the job market or is one preferred over the other? I honestly don't understand the inconsistency.

The CSM is popular in India and US , this program is managed by Scrum Alliance. Professional Scrum Master PSM 1 is from scrum.org , PSM is popular in Europe and Australia . Scrum Study is not much known against these two in my opinion.

I agree with Sakat, the CSM, Certified Scrum Master from Scrum Alliance, and PSM, Professional Scrum Master from Scrum.org are the most well-known, and respected, certifications within the United States.

ScrumStudy has taken a different approach to Scrum, in which they create a SCRUM Book of Knowledge that takes a light-weight framework into a heavily document process.

As an Agile Practice Leader, and interviewer of Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches on a daily basis, I have seen a significant difference in the knowledge and expertise of those with a CSM/PSM and the SMC.

I would lean towards the two Scrum organizations founded by the creators of Scrum...Scrum Alliance and Scrum.org

This will help people looking into getting the Scrum Master certification. PMI has the PMI-ACP which is very comprehensive.
