hello,

I'm wondering if this esteemed group could help me. I have completed my PRINCE2 foundation, I am wanting experience within the Project Management field, I have 10 years retail management experience and I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the direction of a person or company that would be willing to take a volunteer for any aspect of the Project they are willing to share.

I'm not working so I have the time to dedicate and when I get a job I will still be able to dedicate the time needed to get the work done.

Is there a local P2 user group you can join? If it's like a PMI chapter, you may be able to find out about opportunities from members of the user group.

I looked for volunteering opportunities, but I couldn't apply for any of them as I had to be a member of that particular chapter...and I don't know how to apply for it. also what is P2???

There is bound to be numerous volunteer opportunities for Prince2 projects in the UK. You could approach government agencies or hospitals who would undoubtedly adopt Prince2 methodology in their projects, and offer your volunteer services on their projects.

As the others said. Also, ten years retail experience .... does that include management? I too came from a background in retail [management], albeit many years ago, and have been able to leverage the soft skills that were fine-tuned during those years. Additionally, there are many facets of retail management that line up with project management - just a different context.

You can also consider other, smaller non-profit organization that would welcome someone with PM knowledge to help manage events and/or projects.
