"You never walk alone"
Reflect issues with your team, especially wit the more senior people.
Ask for regular mentoring and having a coach aside for some time also helps.
Be open to your direct superior in case of support need/ advise.
To ignite support through formal channels, ask for a project audit.

It was instructive, that's for certain. The biggest deficit for me was knowledge of the technology we were using so I did some research myself and then reviewed my understanding with an expert on our team. He helped me fill in the blanks. I also asked to help with some of the easier tasks of the development piece so that I could get my hands dirty and better learn the material by doing. I was not afraid to say to team members or customers, "To assure my understanding, the impact of what your saying is..." or something like that. As PM, you aren't expected to know everything to drive the ship, but you do need to let your team know that you are willing to help and that you grasp the important concepts. It also helps to ask the customer about their culture - do they use Agile when they are doing things internally? What is their language and culture and how can you help your project wrap around that?

It was scary. I landed up doing a project for annual closing (financial year end) activities in a technology company and technically everything had to work smooth, but also the accounting part had to be correct. I had planned some 5 mock runs each for about 5 banks in India. I faced challenges from having test environments, having quick resolution of problems etc. What I learned the most out if it was Risk Management and Stakeholder management.

My first project was a LAN installation. Luckily for me, I had great team members who knew what to do. It was less a question of managing that keeping up! :)
