i dont know what S and U stand for but the rest is Methodology for Managing Information Technology Delivery. I am trying to find what S and U stand for. Please inform and advice at the soonest. Saving Changes...

I did some research, even went to the Price Waterhouse, Coopers web www.pwc.com and found nothing about the meaning of the S & the D. What leads you to believe they mean anything at all? Best I can tell Summit-D is little more than a brand name. Maybe the S stands for software, systems or structured and the D for developement..... just guessing. Sorry I could not be of more help. I appreciate your effort to help Michael. I work in a company that is currently implementing an IT system using the SUMMIT-D methodology. During my initial readings into the project plan, the term SUMMIT-D was mentioned to be an acronym. Hence the hunt for what its stands for. Saving Changes...
The "D" in Summit stands for Development - it was Cooper's system development methodology. The "S" stands for Strategy - it addressed the more strategic and architectural issues from a global perspective. Saving Changes...
I really appreciate the answer Mr.Meyer. Thanks. Saving Changes...

Dear Gurudatta, years ago we use to work with SUMMIT-D. I was under the impression that the acronymn stood for Strategy Using Methodology for Managing Information Technology Delivery - Development, but it has been a long time and my memory might be wrong..! I worked on the original development of the SUMMIT-D methodology in 1986-1989. I can confirm that 'SUMMIT' was never an acronym - just a branding, with some nice connotations of being at the top of its kind and so on. The 'D' stood for delivery, while the sister product SUMMIT-S had an 'S' for strategy.
The acronym you quote shows creativity on someone's part, but it was never envisioned by the developers and subsequent marketers of SUMMIT.
Other SUMMIT products were added to the 'family' later, including SUMMIT-M - for maintenance.
I'm delighted to hear that SUMMIT-D is still in use, though! I'd love to hear what sort of project you're using it for...
Best wishes...
I would like to read up on the Summit-D methodology. can anyone provide me with any more detail...
