EVM usage in you projects

In your project is EVM really use? Fully? a limited implementation?

You feel it improve project management compare to project that didn't use EVM

EVM calculations not only tells you the current rate of progress ( Schedule and Cost) but also helps in forecasting.

Excellent past performance is a good indication of future ones.

Unfortunately not, I am still waiting for August's figures, so estimates would be miles off! To be honest, it is very frustrating, as it causes many other issues too beyond the impossibility of using EVM.

That is over a month after August, an you have trouble getting the information to monitor and control.

Unfortunately, Kiron's insight holds true in my experience as well - many organizations lack the rigor of task planning to the work package level. From my perspective as an IT Program Manager, this is a significant contributor to project risk and increases the probability of project failure. Managing a project investment and providing variance analyses are key components of stakeholder communications - financial insight is the language of management.
