Since the demand has been so high I have decided to extend my free book offer to members of gantthead. So here is the deal. You send me your postal address and a quick blurb about what PI projects you are involved in and I will mail you out a copy of my book "The Helix Factor - The key to streamling your business processes" as long as my supplies last. Simple enough? No strings attached. Just a way of saying thank you to all you folks out there that help to make gantthead a success.

I am new to project management (as a discipline) and would love to read your book! I'm interested in 'traditional' project management to find ways of helping lawyers better meet the objectives of scope, cost and time, which will result in greatly improved customer service.
Billable hours just isn't doing it, we know that. But, how to do it differently? We don't yet have a firm grasp of that! So, I'm working on ways to help them/us understand the benefits of a projectized approach that puts development of *rational* scope and completion first and reliance on the glory wall (I have these diplomas, bow down before me!) to overcome client dissatisfaction, last! "Rational scope," BTW, means that the client doesn't always win, but gets at the very least an honest appraisal of what can be done.

Hi Regina and Tani,
Books are on their way.
Regina, fixed priced billing is the way to go. Just requires a pragmatic, scope-boxed, and predictable approach.
I can't remember the last time I did a project based on Time and Materials. Saving Changes...
