What it takes to land in project manager job, is it Project management skills or certification?

More often nowadays folks want PMP certs for project management. I don't like that. I started doing this work 16 years ago without a cert and honestly didn't have one until my company required it. Over the years, sadly I spent more of my career picking up the broken pieces of projects left behind by certified PMs. Skills in project management honestly can come naturally for some without going through a certification project. Learn by doing is key.
