Dear Anonymous, there are a number of excellent processes, techniques, and approaches to solving business problems. Many people advocate Six Sigma. Have a look at the following Six Sigma case study for Perishable Inventory by Decisioneering. http://www.decisioneering.com/cases/dmaic-case1.html Another approach that is much simpler and provides a roadmap for business process improvement is the Helix Method, developed by Michael Wood who you can find here on Gantthead per the following link. http://www.gantthead.com/Gantthead/departments/wood.cfm?ID=8 Also, while supplies last Mr. Wood is providing at no charge his book on process improvement. It is a great read and easy to apply in the workplace. Good luck..! -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International

Each problem, opportunity, and directive is assessed with respect to urgency, visibility, tangible benefits, ad priority. Any additional, detailed analysis is not relevant at this stage of the project. It may, however, be useful to list any perceived constraints (limits) on the project, such as deadlines, maximum budget, or general technology. Also, you want to be able to understand the problem domain.
