We are considering Microsoft project server as our EPM tool, but are conserned regarding it's ability to deal with large projects (Over 2000 tasks). Has anyone experianced this size of tasks with the application? Saving Changes...

I have heard that it consumes lots of resources so with 2000 tasks, you might wanna check other tools as well.
have u looked at http://www.digite.com ? They have some real large customers and say that their product is quite scalable and flexible. I have heard that their largest customers use almost 20-30K user licenses. Saving Changes...
I guess it's all relative but we use Primavera products (Project Manager, MyPrimavera) and in the grand scheme 2000 tasks for us is a very small project. We have managed plant turnarounds that can involved over 20,000 tasks in a 28 day period with no performance impact. With the turnaround you are usually progressing and rescheduling after each shift and reschedules in a a couple of minutes.
Microsoft is not really a true EPM as you still have to check in and out to work on project. Primavera allows people to work on the same project/tasks at the same time, updating the project in real time. Once a change is made it is available immediately to others, no need to wait till they check their product in again. Saving Changes...
No I have not had this experience before. Before you do any installs or upgrades I would recommend you spend some time on what version of Microsoft Server you require given the level of information's, inputs and outputs, you require from the server. Best to get this right now as an upgrade of Microsoft Project Server requires a lot of careful planning especially if the main reason for the upgrade is only based on capacity. Saving Changes...
