Hello PM Community! What’s the general consensus when it comes to using MS Project (Version: Standard/2013) for developing reports and dashboards? For team? For executive management?

I’ve read good things about the 2013 upgrades from a reporting aspect, when compared to previous versions of MS Project. Are there limitations or challenges we as a professional community have using this tool? Are there success stories that can be shared?

Thanks, Nathan

There are good reports available with the tool. I like the integration with Visio for more visual reporting.

Nathan, I use them all the time! I have 2016, so not exactly sure if/what/any differences. As long as you are tracking and maintaining the integrity of the data, the reports will be great. Additionally, you can create your own reports. Copying is also easy for placing into PPT slides or exposing through SharePoint.

To note: if you plan to integrate with SharePoint, you'll need Pro

Have fun!

Thanks for the feedback, and suggestions on how to integrate with other MS applications. I've yet to hear any negatives, so I'm excited to dive in and become as proficient as I can in a short amount of time. Hopeful that Lynda and/or YouTube videos will provide enough training material.
