Scrum Masters, how mature has Agile been in the organizations where you are a Scrum Master?

Have you been able to stick to the method and philosophy strictly, or has it been a mix between Agile and Waterfall?

Agile is nothing to be with the method you use. You can use Agile practices with waterfall process models. The key is to understand what Agile is.

I'm yet to see a 100% agile company, but I am sure there are many (ie. software houses). It's usually waterfall or a mix with that and agile.

I am running SAP Implementation projects. The SAP Activate approach is a hybrid model.

We use a mix of Agile and Waterfall in my workplace.

Sticking to a methodology strictly is the antithesis of agile. Agile implies adaptation and pragmatism which means that one-size fits all doesn't work. Even for so called "Sacred Cow" ceremonies, if those are not providing value to the team or their cadence is wrong, a mature agile team will modify their approach.

I have not seen a lot of pure agile projects. We have a hybrid approach for our projects.

Pure waterfall delivery and pure agile delivery are two extreme cases. Most projects fall somewhere between those two extremes and hence hybrid approaches are the rule and not the exception.

Agile mindset, behavior and even some practices and tools can be applied to predictive/deterministic projects whereas many organizations new to agile will apply a traditional mindset to agile delivery.

We also have the personal option of being professionally agile, regardless of the organization served.
