I am just curious.
PMP and PRINCE 2 certifications. Who have taken the exam for both? Which do you think is more relevant? Which exam is more difficult to PASS. :) Saving Changes...
I haven't sat the Prince2 exam yet, but I did study it, and to me the PMP content is around the same level of difficulty as Prince2. Which one is more relevant depends mainly on where you are located. Since you are in the Philippines (I spent a decade running projects there) you may know already that the PMP is more widely used than Prince2. Here in Australia, it's about 50/50. In the US it's mainly PMP, and in the UK it's mainly Prince2.

It depends on which PRINCE2 certification you compare the PMP to. The PRINCE2 Foundation is fairly straightforward with an hour-long exam. The PRINCE2 Practitioner is a little more involved with a 2.5-hour exam.
Compare that with the 4-hour exam for the PMP. Which exam do you think would be the most difficult?
Relevance is relative. If you work for a company which values Prince2 or has adopted it as a methodology (compared to the PMBOK which is a body of knowledge), then they are likely to value that designation.
Not knowing the Philippines PM market, I don't know how popular the PMP designation is there relative to Prince2, but certainly in most industries in North America, the PMP would be recognized and considered much more useful than a Prince2 designation.

Certainly in the UK Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner seems to be the standard. I completed mine and found the questions are a different nature in terms of structure and approach. Saving Changes...

I have taken both exams . My Prince2 unfortunately expired . However post the training course for Prince 2 , i only studied for about a couple of weeks and was able to pass the exam with flying colours. the practitioner exam is Open Book and situational.
For PMP , I had to study after work and weekends for a good 6-7 months before the exam. It is closed book and situational .
Certainly more effort is required for PMP than Prince2 , but like colleagues have said , Prince2 would be more popular in UK. However there is some demand here in Australia as well and it's a more prescriptive method . Some companies do tend to adhere to Prince2 and like to work according to stage boundaries . PMP is a body of knowledge followed in several countries of the world, and is also popular in Australia.
If I were you , I would certainly pursue a PMP but if you are out there actively looking for a PM role, are Time Poor and want to quickly get a respectable qualification , I would attend a training course for Prince2 and give the practitioner exam .

Agree. You can do the full Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner in a week course, with first exam on day 3 and Practitioner on day 5. Thats how I took and passed mine.
