Hi Mahalmadane, I would say the limiting factor that may restraint PM to manage a project is the scale of complexity & size. My highest record was to manage 11 schools construction projects at different locality at the same time with average construction period of 24 months. To efficiently deliver the role as PM in managing multiple projects, you require high performing team that is aligned with your mission to meet project timeline. You shall spend most of your time on meeting table & travelling.
Thank you very much Mr PUI for your help. Saving Changes...

Yes, they call it a program. If you are referring to a PM managing two projects concurrently, yes also. Most PM's manage more than one project at a time from my experience.

@Sante
We need to differentiate between managing a program and managing multiple projects. They are not the same.
True, however the question was not about differentiation. Both a Program Manager and Project Manager can manage multiple projects successfully. Perhaps my previous response sounded like if multiple projects are managed concurrently, it must be a program. That is not the case of course. But we digress...yes it is possible to successfully manage two projects at the same time. Saving Changes...
Yes it is. Quite normal, actually. I usually have five to six projects on my backlog. Manage 2, even 3, along the weekdays.
At present, i'm babysitting one of them, planning the roll-out of other and validating the technical design of the third.'

Yes, It is possible but it depends on the project size. If large project size of 100-120 team size, its difficult to manage multiple projects. If its medium scale project of around 40-60, you can manage couple of project simultaneously. If you have smaller size of project then you can manage 4-5 project simultaneously. Hope it helps to figure out your queries.

Sorry @Jigar but that is not correct. I am managing multiple project with 250-650 people involved. But that is possible if and only if: 1-your style if not micromanagement. 2-you create a project team structure to support it.
