Motivating Volunteers

I work with a very large group of volunteers. My current project is focusing on the reduction of waste. I would like some feedback on how others motivate people on a corporate level to care about the organization and its assets. Go.

very nice points above. Few things to add here-
1. have a goal to attain together. Maybe it is awards for the org in community.
2. volunteers don't need motivation, they are already there to do something for the org. they need direction and recognize them
