I've created a simple poll (https://www.projectmanagement.com/polls/41...e-appropriate-) to help me understand what are the main blockers for an agile transformation at either a departmental or organizational-level.

If you are contemplating, in the midst of, or are through your transformation, let me know which is your Big Bad!

In our case, it is the company's shared resources model. Very few people are dedicated to a project. That makes the continuous improvement part of agile more difficult to achieve.

That's the challenge of introducing agile in matrix organizations - the key is to identify the specific roles which need to be dedicated vs. those which can continue to be floaters. One way is to look at the % of work items as a function of the overall backlog which require the role...

Depends. We are having trials of where we can use it. But I would say they don't feel it fits to well into their current revenue models and forward estimates.

For us, several reasons. Firstly that the types of projects (many are COTS or hardware) are usually more suited to waterfall than agile, secondly that we do not have the dedicated staff especially for testing (and clinical staff are very expensive to use repeatedly), thirdly that finance require a full budget breakdown up front, and finally we have formal compliance approval gateways some of which that have to be carried out externally, that cannot easily be done repeatedly.

I would say that lack of Agile knowledge including how, when and where it can be used is a blocker for the transformation on both a strategic and operational level. In every project type/field, a small part of Agile can be applied but it is the lack of knowledge and true benefits of using this method that may be a limiter.
