I use Microsoft Project because it gives me a lot of control over intricate details of my projects. However, is there software that would give me even *more* control over a project’s details than Microsoft Project?

What specific information are you looking to manage better? The risk of a PM tool which contains too many data elements is garbage in-garbage out plus overwhelming your PMs...

Eric, same as highlighted already by Kiron. It depends what project details you are looking after. In case of overall milestones planning, network diagramm etc., MS Project is certainly a good tool. In case you need more status and progress information about team collaboration work, tools like MS Sharepoint, Rational Tem center or Jira are better tools from my point of view.
