81-The Sponsor of project informed the project manager who just joined the project that project is on schedule and budget as well as risks are handles timely and effectively, The project manager reviewed the reports and found that the project is two month behind schedule what is the best decision can the new project manager take?
A- Fast track or crash the schedule.
B- Go ahead and don’t care about the time.
C- Inform the Sponsor.
D- Start risk audit.

Start Risk Audit and analyse the assumptions made regarding schedule, if any and if fast tracking or crashing the schedule will help. My answer is D.

Recommend verifying the data first, e.g. by speaking to the project team members.
Maybe the reports are wrong.
Also depends on project duration, and the current project phase. 2 months slippage when in the execution phase of a six month project is probably kind of serious. Whereas 2 months slippage when in the planning stage of a 2-year project might be acceptable and maybe due to delays in getting stakeholder approvals.

The best choice for this situation I believe is C, because the sponsor is misinformed and as you just joined the project, you have to establish a sincere relationship with your key stakeholder (project sponsor).

Inform the Sponsor, he/she will automatically ask you to perform risk audit.

Fast track or crash the schedule will have to be carried-out by the Project Manager to meet the project schedule. Before that he needs to carry-out the risk audit and see if the possible risks have already been identified and mitigation plans are followed-or not.
