I'm curious as to the least expensive path for receiving the Scrum Master certification. I see in-class courses that go for thousands of dollars, well I'm not growing money and would appreciate a less expensive path is possible.
Any suggestions fo obtaining the Scrum Master cert?

Do you need CSM letters behind your name on a profile, or do you need an education that comes with training?
There are four levels:
1. Once you pay for http://www.scrum-institute.org/ for $29 - you can legitimately state on your profile that you are certified Scrum Master. There are many Scrum Master certs. You get what you pay for = a few letters behind your name, sometimes you might learn something.
2. To claim CSM, you need to pay for rather expensive training. I saw online training go as low as $850 online. Expect memorization of test questions and "death by PPT"
3. To get an education with CSM, I recommend a hands-on training class. Even 2 days will make a difference in understanding the spirit of Agile.
Any of the above does not make a person an experienced Scrum Master. The push for CSM, or Scrum Master, comes from HR personnel to checkbox their objective on the job description. Saving Changes...
