I would like to know how can an Functional Points counted for Overall Project can be equated with Efforts interms of PMdays ? i.e. How can we equate (n) FPS = (n) PMdays
Is there any relationship? If yes, what is the formula ?
I would appreciate if any one could answer this question.
Our organization is looking to implement function points, so I have been doing a bit of reading about function points. Some organizations have migrated from KLOCs to Function points and have used either standard conversion factors or they have counted the KLOC's from past projects, counted the functionality with function points, and come up with their own conversion factor.
PM days is very subjective based on the organization, so I imagine the best you could do is to count the FP's from historical projects, count the number of PM days that it took to create those functions and come up with a conversion factor. Then you could refine your conversion factor as you gather more information about your projects going forward. Saving Changes...

If you are knowledgeable about the domain/artea, it is better to stick to a work break down structure as you know what you are talking about. If you are getting into a new and unknown field, function points can help- in my opinion. Saving Changes...
