Hi fellow PMs!
I am preparing for PMP based on PMBOK 5 and was wondering if anyone had any tips for mastering the 100's of ITTOs for all 47 processes?
I realize that just memorizing them is futile, rather the better approach is to understand their flow/interrelationships and identify patterns. For example, EEF's/OPA's are inputs to many processes while Project Management Plan updates and Project document updates are outputs.
I've started an Excel doc to track all ITTOs based on Process, Group and Knowledge area to eventually seek out these patterns. I have many weeks & hours of study still ahead and am curious if anyone has a list of such patterns that they've already developed? I would love to not recreate the wheel if possible, and start by focusing on high level patterns and then dig deeper from there.
Besides an active community, you will receive a well-structured and guided preparing approach with 14+ sections covering all PMP Exam prep topics and additional content.
There is a premium version available also with additional contents, tools and checklists and chapter-wise questionnaires.
Hi Ellie, focus more on the Tools & Techniques as some are unique to certain processes or knowledge areas and those get asked more frequently in the exam. There are usually like 3 - 6 questions on Inputs or outputs max to be honest. Saving Changes...

To my understanding it would be helpful if you follow the Data Flow Diagram of PMBOK for each knowledge area that clearly visualize how outputs from one process become inputs to other process. Saving Changes...
Let me know if you are able to view it. Saving Changes...

Ignore them - we do in our classes. The key is to understand the logic of PM. No question will ask to list the ITTO for a process. There could be questions asking is this an input or an output and using logic and experience you would be able to answer most of these questions.
Further, the number of questions requiring Inputs-Outputs is minimal. You might get many T&T questions but those are mostly about how to use those tools. Saving Changes...
there are some tips involve input & output of Work performance data, report and information like date is appear after team do the work (output), then use it as input for monitor & control stages. etc Saving Changes...

Don't underestimate the learning value of writing out your own tools. It's amazing what you learn and remember when you start to distill knowledge into a written form.
I'll often write things in longhand to help me create the necessary associations for retention. Saving Changes...
