Greetings everyone,

I searched the forums for threads related to Microsoft's Project Server 2003 product, but didn't see much in regard to the technical or administration component of this tool. I work for a state government agency tasked with supporting various software solutions, and we're merging into the SharePoint/Project Server world for our EPM solution. My task is to administer the tool itself. I was curious if anyone here has any insight into their experience with this tool, not only as an admin, but from the user perspective as well. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! Take care!

Dear Emory, excellent post. In addition to technical administration of Project Server and SharePoint, there is need from the user perespective to have project management best practice workflows, advice, and guidance that work with your Microsoft EPM architecture (not offline to it) that not only institutionalize project management skill (PMBOK, SDLC, Change Management, etc.), but also ensure that Project Server and SharePoint are used consistently and correctly as well. A number of government organizations (city, state, and federal agencies) use Processes On Demand along with Project Server and SharePoint. Feel free to have a look per the following link: http://www.botinternational.com/project_server.htm. Should this be an area of interest to you, I would be happy to arrnage for a discussion and demonstration. Best regards. -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Customer Care, BOT International

Mark, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, our unit isn't responsible for how the users will ultimately use the tool. Our primary concern is administration of Project Server and the unique situations users have found themselves in while using it. Right now, the PMO is working on their processes and methodology in regard to how they want to manage projects. Even it they use an Excel spreadsheet for their planning efforts, this is key. I'll take a look at the link you provided and if we can find some resources from your firm, I'll be in touch. Take care and thanks again for the reply!
